Just Keep Going_It Is Like Something was shown in Bruised: Art Action Ecology in Asia at RMIT Gallery, my first work in a formal institutional gallery. Before installing, I stopped winding the Yarn into neat balls, and it arrived as an enormous tangled mass. A heavy core remained on the gallery stairs, with red threads extending from it.
To bring life into the space, I performed within the installation: crocheting to emerge, weaving to reinforce, cutting to destroy, and sleeping to rest. The title was chosen to evoke ecology and life itself. These were not political statements but somatic responses, like the quiet metabolism of a living body. Having lost two years of Yarn, I had to remake it stitch by stitch, which felt like producing new blood.
